After having organised a successful fund raising campaign, students of Nust presented a cheque for Rs1 million to Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali on Tuesday.
The funds will be used to help flood victims in Balochistan. Nust Rector Muhammad Asghar said that the university has proactively been pursuing community service as a vital component of academic institutions.
A student of Nust, Faizan Rashid, said being proactive as a student is a convenient way to rally volunteers together, as the university itself serves as a platform.
“There are so many ways through which we can raise funds, such as arranging concerts and fund raising drives. Volunteers can be recruited through announcements and flyers.
“There is no excuse for not trying to give back to the community.”
