Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Malik said that whenever an operation is planned in North Waziristan, the military and civil leadership will take the decision together. “What matters the most is the opinion of the military commanders on ground. Without their opinion, no such operation will take place.”
He added that if a decision in this regard is taken then it will be made public, saying that the “charm of democracy is that every decision that the government takes comes before the public.”
‘Mehsud should disclose whether he’s injured, ill or has escaped’
Responding to a question regarding exposing the militants behind an attack on child activist Malala Yousufzai, Malik said that it was already revealed that the conspiracy to attack her was hatched by the Taliban stationed at the Pak-Afghan border.
“We have the names of the suspect, but we want to reveal who ‘actually’ carried out the attack, I repeat, who ‘actually’ carried out the attack,” he said.
The interior minister said that although Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan had claimed the responsibility of the attack, it was uncertain which faction he spoke for.
“The Taliban have dispersed in many splinter groups. The question arises, if he spoke on behalf of Hakimullah Mehsud, because it has been approximately two months and 11 days that he has been unseen. He should disclose whether he is injured or ill or has just escaped somewhere.”
Malik said that it now appeared as if the Taliban have “become leaderless and have divided ranks among themselves and are carrying out these attacks.”
He said that somebody else had been authorised to use the wireless PTCL phone called “VPTCL” which was under Mehsud’s use. He added that he will give another statement within 3-4 days after finding out about these splinter groups and people who finance them.

no worries..US will decide what goes on anyway..hahaa
@Fazil: Pak rejects all external pressures and propaganda onslaught against its sovereignty and matters related to national security.
Forty thousand precious lives have been lost in terror related incidents in Pakistan. How many more Malalas and innocent people would be allowed to be treated as sacrificial goats before military decides to launch operations against these barbarians ??
Considering that ET takes upto twenty four hours to show the comments, Pakistan military might take twenty four months to start the use of long range artillery pieces aginst the Waziris; whereas it takes less tha a day for a waziri to reach Pakistan terriory, have a luncheon of pure protiens in Peshawar and return to the front in Afghanistan for sniping afternoon.

I hate this guy.
Its time we launch as the Peace Militas and Pakistan Awam is together! get this over and done with ! we cant afford to lose stars like Malal..
It did not make any sense to take any action anyway, because all the terrorists had run away after his initial warning to them. I had heard someone say light travels faster than sound that is why some people appear bright until they open thier mouth - the problem is he does not even appear bright.
“What matters the most is the opinion of the military commanders on ground. Without their opinion, no such operation will take place.” Really? Who knew? Nothing takes place, even planning for the DHAs, without the permission from the military commanders!
GP65,
North Waziristan is not a part of the Pakistan territory; besides the interior minister usualy has the federal police force for maintaining law and order in the country, and not that of military in policing.
What does COAS stand for?
Rex Minor
It's too early for military action
Many more Malalas are still to be eliminated.
@Rex Minor: "Is Pakistan interior minister now the defense minister as well.?"
If you consider NWA as part of Pakistan then it is well within the scope of an interior miister's job. IF it is a foreign country that is going to be attacked then ofcourse defense minister would have to be involved. Of course it is a separate matter that in Pakistan - the defense minister or his boss the PM has no say - all decisions are taken by COAS.
Why is this man in office???
For someone proclaiming that the transparency of democracy is charming, he sure didn't provide any information. Talking in circles.
He is a champion of hollow talk and loose words. There is no substance in anything he says.
Malik Sahab's statements creates hell lot of confusion to Talibans.
Who cares for Malik's statement.? What is his status today (October 15, 2012). See the notification issued by ECP
Was he not disqualified by the SC?
Shame on you, Mr. Malik, if you are not contemplating using decisive force to protect your citizens. The enemy pokes you in the eye, tells you where he is, tells you that he will continue to attack your innocent citizens, and all you can do is reassure them that don't worry we are not gonig to touch you. Wow !
If not now, it will be never. Gradually these terrorists will keep on silencing the voices of opposition and their right-wing supporters will keep on eroding the social fiber of the country inside out. They will not stop short of anarchy of the kind of Somalia.
At least now we know what the state's official policy is towards the terrorists.
ha ha...as if he has the last word when it comes to military operations...
They are waiting for the Taliban to disperse to other areas!
'we are finding out about splinter groups and who are financing them'
Writing a report on the Taliban is all very well, but how about arresting the them first?
Can't win external wars, won't take on internal enemies. What good is the Pakistan Army for anyway?
Right - bijness.
Which means that there are plans for such operation. Just take his statement the other way round and you will find the truth.
Wasn't he the one who started the most recent NW operation rumor to begin with?
Is Pakistan interior minister now the defense minister as well.?
Rex Minor
As usual eating his words!
We are going for operation in NW---------
We are not going for operation in NW=====
We are a democracy, will announce govt decision after receiving orders from our military-=-- //?
Why no operation when PTI rally proved that there is no writ of the state in Waziristan.
We knew it Malik sahib. you and your government dont have the guts to launch an operation. Give the militants some slots in your government, whats the fun in getting our soldiers, policemen, FC and of course civilians killed in piecemeal.
Rehman Malik is NOT the interior minister..
We want military operation please
So our charmful democracy waiting for some more brutaility from TTP?
