Unexplained death: Afghan girl’s body to be exhumed

The family termed it a suicide and buried the body shortly after death.

The Court of Sessions Judge on Friday ordered for exhuming the body of an Afghan girl to determine the cause of her death.


The girl died under unexplained circumstances in Afghan Camp No. 15 last week. The family termed it a suicide and buried the body shortly after death.

However, one of the deceased’s brothers accused his two elder brothers of strangling their sister for unknown reasons and prayed for inquiry and registration of criminal case against them.

In his application to the Haripur District Judge, Taza Din, son of Kala Khan, said that he was based in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir in connection with his business while his sister Bibi Hawa Jan,18, lived with their parents and two brothers.

On September 30, he was informed that Bibi had committed suicide and the family had buried her in the camp graveyard.

He said when he reached home and inquired he matter, locals said that his elder brothers and father had strangled Bibi on the suspicion of having illicit relations. The accused, after murdering Bibi, told the locals that she suffered heart attack and died instantly.

Din prayed for an autopsy of his sister’s body and registration of FIR against his brothers and father.

On his complaint, the court deputed Judicial Magistrate Nadia Hasan for conducting an autopsy after exhuming the body on October 13.

The court also asked the police to ensure security of the doctors and probe team with deployment of contingents of police.
