Did you know?: Madonna supports our peace prize winner Malala!

The news about the targeted shooting of child activist Malala Yousafzai, who stood up against the Taliban to support education through her writings and won a National Peace Prize, has reached American singing sensation Madonna. The pop icon dedicated a song to the injured 14-year-old at her concert at the Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

The diva said she cried when she heard about the shooting of the girl in Swat valley. “The 14-year-old schoolgirl wrote a blog about going to school. The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her. Do you realise how sick that is? Support education! Support women!” Madonna shouted during the concert.

“This song is for you, Malala!” she added and went on to sing “Human Nature”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 54-year-old singer further showed her support to the young girl by revealing Malala’s name stenciled across her back, during the concert.

Madonna’s MDNA tour has seen her voice political and social views. After speaking out in support of jailed Russian punk band, Pussy Riot, and endorsing President Obama for re-election with a back tattoo, Madonna’s latest statement has taken on the Taliban. Peter Fonda, Michelle Rodriguez and Freida Pinto have also voiced their support for the young girl. Actor Mia Farrow tweeted: “Prayers for child hero who dared to speak out for girls education. Now fighting for life after Taliban gunned her down.”
