Welcome Mr. Haroon Sharif Advisor to WBG on regional economic cooperation. As you know well the important element is transport on rail road, and sea ports. The UN ESCAP Thailand in several meetings extended participation from Pakistan, Afghanistan for the Trans Asian Highway, and the Trans Asian Railways that could possibly Pakistan with Europe, Asia, China etc. Pakistan has a ratified treaty with the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan for the ATA Carnet for transit cargo, which could facilitate the country for transit gateway to the world, and also enable our international trade to be carried via Afghanistan to China and the European routes on the railways. Besides this under the auspices of ICAO the CAA of Pakistan and Afghanistan may cooperate to boost international trade of transit and origination. With your august platform the region will see propserity, cooperation, peace, in the region.
