Dissatisfied over their annual examination results, students of Law College of the University of Peshawar (UoP) staged a protest against the college administration and the controller examinations on Wednesday, demanding that their papers be rechecked.
The students maintained that their recent scores, in comparison with the previous academic record, suggest that the papers were not checked properly this time.
They demanded that their papers get recheck free of charge and the result be announced without delay, else they will protest in front of the press club and file a case against the college administration in the Peshawar High Court.
Saifullah Mohib Kakakhel, student of LLB second year, said that 600 student appeared in the examination, of which a majority failed in various subjects while only 32 per cent managed to pass.
He maintained that those who held positions in earlier exams were discriminated against. “Despite working hard, I got only 389 marks out of 700, while those with connections were given high marks,” he alleged.
Jalal Ahamad Khan, a student of LLB first year, suggested that a “fair and honest commission of learned people in the field of law” should be appointed to look into the matter.
Law College Principal Abdul Manan said that the overall result of the college was not very bad, in comparison with other law colleges in the province. “I’ve asked the administration to recheck the papers,” he said, adding that he will arrange a meeting of the failed students with the controller examination to sort out the matter.
