Protest: University teachers demand 20% raise

ABBOTTABAD: Faculty members of the University of Hazara’s Havelian Campus took to the streets on Tuesday, demanding a 20 per cent raise in their salaries. They said that while the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government increased the salary of all civil servants by 20 per cent, the teachers have been denied the raise. Thy maintained that the faculty members of K-P universities have been performing additional duties, including assisting the government in conducting elections, surveys and census, but their efforts have been taken for granted. They accused the government of discriminating against them and demanded that their salaries be increased without delay. They also vowed to boycott classes and continue their protest unless their demand was met.
