Negligent workers relieved of duty

Karak DCO expressed his concern over the dismal performance of some workers in the immunisation campaign.

KARAK:

Two anti-polio drive workers have been suspended and one dismissed after they were found negligent of their duties during the three-day immunisation campaign conducted in the district.

Karak DCO Ali Anan Qamar expressed his concern over the dismal performance of some workers in the immunisation campaign. During a meeting with officials involved in the campaign, the DCO was told that over 200 children in Latamber, Nari Panos, Shaheedan, Kando Khel,Chounthra and Metha Khel had not been immunised.

The DCO ordered that a health worker, Shaista, who had remained absent throughout the campaign be dismissed from the campaign. Talking to The Express Tribune, EDO Health Dr Daraz Khattak said that Shaista was assigned the Jandri area to vaccinate children but only turned up for duty to mark herself present in the register.

The EDO was also told to suspend two area managers, Noor Muhammad in Kando Khel, and Hameedullah in Metha Khel. Both workers had hired teenagers and unqualified staff to immunise the children in the area. “The teenagers hired remained absent and were found resting in the station,” the EDO said.

Qamar ordered health department officials to learn from their mistakes and said that stricter action would be taken against if incidents such as this reoccurred. Officials have been told to launch another anti-polio drive within 24 hours and immunise those who had been left out of the vaccination drive.

A report on the campaign is to be sent to the DCO after the new vaccinations are completed.
