Dual nationality: I’ll prove my innocence in SC, says Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif vociferously denied accusations of him being a dual national on Friday, saying these allegations were “baseless and contrary to the facts,” according to a press release.

On Thursday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was issued a summons by the Supreme Court (SC) to appear before the court on October 17. Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz, who made the allegations, has also been summoned by the SC.

Speaking to journalists in Berlin, Shahbaz said he would prove his innocence before the apex court. He added that PML-N’s stance on dual citizenship was clear. Taking a swipe at Riaz, the Punjab chief minister said that if he was proved to not have dual nationality in court, his accusers should resign from their assembly seats.
