Free electricity: KESC and hospital sign agreement

The MOU was signed under the Social Investment Plan.

KARACHI: An agreement was signed between the Karachi Electricity Supply Company and the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust in order to provide free electricity to the trusts’ hospitals. This was the third Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two under the Social Investment Plan on Wednesday. “Under this memorandum, we will bear 100% of the electricity charges of two of the hospitals of the trust, located in Korangi and North Karachi,” said the company’s chief executive, Tabish Gauhar. The trust, one of the largest eye care providers in Pakistan, has treated over 22 million eye patients and performed over 2.2 million and major surgeries in its 26 year history. It offers all eye related treatments and surgeries free of charge and has 17 hospitals and 39 clinics across the country.
