Hundreds of daily wage workers belonging to the Islamabad Golf Club went on strike against non-payment of their salaries on Wednesday.
Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the administration, the workers said they had been deprived of their salaries for two months due to the prevailing financial crunch as claimed by the administration.
“It is unfair. The administration should have developed a plan to deal with financial issues beforehand,” said Muhammad Ahmed Satti, one of the protesters. According to Satti, as many as 200 workers have been affected by the crisis.
The protesters appealed to the federal government, particularly the cabinet secretary, to help them get their salaries.
