French spy, not lynch mob killed Gaddafi: Report
A French secret serviceman shot dead Libya’s former strongman Col Muammar Gaddafi and not a lynch mob of rebels as he lay trapped and cornered in a sewage pipe in his home town of Sirte.
In addition, Gaddafi was betrayed by the Syrian leader, Bashar al Assad, who gave his mobile number to Paris, allowing French intelligence to determine Gaddafi’s location and send the agent to kill him.
The French secret agent is said to have infiltrated a mob of Libyan rebels which had encircled the Libyan leader on October 20, 2011, in a sewage pipe, and shot him in the head, the Daily Mail, the Daily Telegraph and other sources reported.
Quoting diplomatic sources in the North African capital, the Daily Mail said the motive apparently was to stop Gaddafi being interrogated about his highly suspicious links with Nicolas Sarkozy, who was the President of France at that time.
The paper said Sarkozy who once welcomed Gaddafi as the “Brother leader” during a state visit to Paris was said to have received millions of dollars from the Libyan despot to fund his election campaign in 2007.
Sarkozy was not the only Western leader to have close links with Gaddafi. Reports claimed that former British PM Tony Blair visited Gaddafi regularly and was helping to facilitate multi-billion business deals.

Not quite true. Gaddafi was alive, albeit injured, after he was captured from the sewage pipe. There is plenty of video evidence of him walking around. He was bleeding from the head but that did not look like gunshot to the head. So which story is true ?
@Max: Well Max, if only you could get it into your heads that you don't need to grovel before the Americans, British, Saudis, Turks, Russians, Chinese. If only you would realize all we need is for the Indian subcontinent to work and trade together.

@Jat I agree with u on this one. The colonialists still think they rule the world, and are trying very hard to make sure they do. But people are becoming more aware of what's going on in the world, and history is no more being written by only the victors. The libyan and syrian uprisings are as fake as Tony Blair's and George Bush's dossiers on Iraq's WMDs.

I always wondered why Gandhi supported 'Khilafat Movement' while Jinnah opposed it. Now I see the Gandhi's motives were not so noble after all. Hindus in fact wanted Muslims out of India and their machinations started as early as 1919.

All the people here, blindly opposing the Arab Spring uprisings as "fake" and "puppet" movements should try to go and speak there minds to Syrian or Egyptian arabs on the streets or Syria or Egypt. Then we'll see who gets converted.
We seem to be very much attached to the famous and prominent dictators in the Arab countries so much so that we name our stadiums and roads in their honour and see all movements against them as west sponsored.
My mind draws parallels with the 'Khilafat Movement' of the pre-partition era where Indian Muslims were fed romanticized views of Muslim ruled countries and were called to migrate to Afghanistan and leave British India. We still haven't learnt a lesson, have we?
Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph are tabloids. I would'nt even trust their weather forecast.

The report makes sense. Libya was from the beginning a French/British operation with limited US involvement. Gaddafi probably tried to blackmail Sarkozy and Blair, and was therefore assassinated.
The role of France and Britain, and certain oil companies is very murky to say the least. They just can't let go their colonial mindset. Shame on them.
The Libyan revolution was as fake as the Syrian uprising. They're fooling no one but the Libyans and the Syrians themselves.
