PESHAWAR: The Frontier Constabulary (FC) finally gave monetary compensation to the family of an FC personnel, 14 months after he was killed by Taliban. During the court hearing on Tuesday, FC representative Sohaib Ahmad accompanied by an FC budget officer gave a cheque of Rs500,000 to legal heirs of Taj Alam, who died in July 2011. Alam had been abducted by militants and later killed, but his family had not been given monetary assistance for his untimely death. In light of this, his widow Amnaz Begum filed an application with the PHC’s Human Rights Cell. The application was later converted into a human rights petition. Upon the applications’ conversion into a writ petition, FC officials were asked to answer why the family had not yet been given the money. FC official also said they had released Alam’s pension.
