ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to move a resolution in Parliament regarding the formation of an All Parties Commission on the Balochistan issue.

Addressing a press conference on Monday morning, senior PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali said that the party was striving to bring back the estranged province into the federation, adding that they were not proposing this step for point scoring but wanted to rectify mistakes of the past.

Regarding the formation of the commission, Nisar said that along with parties in the parliament, many ‘important’ non-parliamentary parties should also be made part of this committee. He mentioned that parties from Balochistan, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party should also have representation in the committee.

He added that while this committee would function in a parliamentary, political and democratic manner, it would also supplement the Supreme Court’s proceedings in cases related to the crisis in Balochistan.

Nisar said that the commission would open ‘lines of communication’ with Baloch nationalists, who did not have any trust in the government, highlighting the government’s indifferent reaction to Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s recently proposed six points to resolve the Balochistan issue.

Speaking about Mengal’s six points, he said that they don’t hint at a rebellion.

“No where does it speak of separation from Pakistan, but instead speaks of bringing to justice those responsible for the atrocities in Balochistan,” Nisar added.

The senior PML-N leader said that every government was responsible for the crisis in Balochistan, particularly the Musharraf regime, and urged that the issue will not be resolved until the nation seriously deals with the problems in Pakistan’s largest province and mistakes are rectified.

Instead of giving their consent/ support Army could have said that we believe in the steps of civil authorities towards normalization in Balochistan.. . When army says “support’ it means they have a aright to disagree also. i believe that Sardar Mangel has been encouraged to come/ invited to be a bridge between the Insurgents and the government ( after taking the army into confidence) to bring them in mainstream politics of democracy and lay off armed struggle. Any way these are positive signs.
