Exchange of fire: Wildlife official, poacher killed

The officials were informed that some people were illegally hunting falcons at Thakar Kalan Sahian near Chenab river.

QADIRABAD: Two people were killed in an exchange of fire between poachers and Wildlife Department officials in Mandi Bahauddin on Saturday. The officials were informed that some people were illegally hunting falcons at Thakar Kalan Sahian near the Chenab river. Wildlife Wardens Shaukat Ali, Azam, Manzoor Ahmed, Amjad Iqbal and Mohammad Azam challenged the poachers  Amir Rasool and Safdar Ali alias Mana. The poachers shot at them, killing Amir Rasool on the spot and injuring Mohammad Azam and Shaukat Ali. The wardens returned their fire, killing Safdar.  Qadirabad police are investigating.
