The first rumour floating about was that Emma Watson would be casted as the lead role in the film, a report later denied by the young star. Now, rumour has it that the gorgeous Ryan Gosling may be casted to play the devastatingly sexy Christian Grey from the novel.
Among all this, other snippets that have made the round are that author Bret Easton Ellis has lobbied for the opportunity to pen the screenplay, while Angelina Jolie has been reported as a potential contender to sit in the director’s chair, as reported by screenrant.com.
Earlier this year, Universal Pictures and Focus Features secured the film rights, and now Oscar-nominated producers Dana Brunetti and Mike De Luca of The Social Network will be backing the project.
“As usual, it’s all been misreported,” the book’s author E L James told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show. It may have killed the rumours for now, but it’s given the women out there much to drool about.

Christian represents an archetypal image deeply rooted in the collective unconscious. He is the destructive force that is not imposing, yet slithering in the subconscious mind and consuming it. He has an almost angelic appearance but a cold and stoic demeanor. Someone who embodies all of this is certainly Alex Skarsgard.
His anima is Anastasia. Innocent, delicate, fragile and yet capable of transcending her initial meekness. At first glance, a girl unassuming and pure but inside there is a force just simmering only to erupt in its entirety. Someone who could undergo such transformation would be Lily Collins.
