Barricading cantt: Station commander seeks more time

A petition was filed against the closure of different roads leading to the cantonment area.

PESHAWAR: The representative of the Peshawar’s station commander, Major Shakoor, has requested the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for additional time to submit a reply over barricading roads in cantonment area. Shakoor appeared before a PHC division bench headed by Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan. He informed the bench that barricades have been removed from Bara and Mall roads in compliance with court orders. He requested further time, however, telling the court that Colonel Noor and his legal team will be submitting a detailed reply in the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned till October 24 at Shakoor’s request. Muhammad Essa Khan, a Peshawar-based lawyer, had filed a petition against the closure of different roads leading to the cantonment area, stating that residents were facing difficulties because of the blockade.
