UAF strives to obtain global certification

FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will work to get international certification of its faculty members to earn international recognition of their professional domains and make them a proud member of the highly qualified international faculty pool. The assertion was given by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad while addressing the faculty of the academia on Wednesday.

Ahmad said that certification is vital to enter the prestigious club to grab benefits of the global job market for faculty and students. He urged the young faculty to capitalise on the enormous opportunities by marketing their novel research ideas to Bill Gates Foundation, European Union, Qatar Foundation, Pak US Science and Technology and other funding agencies adding that besides enriching their professional capabilities, they can earn higher incomes for the university as well.

He said that owing to constant encouragement and making vigorous efforts, in a period of four years, the value of research projects had been raised from Rs200 million to nearly Rs1.8 billion adding that the faculty had the potential to win more projects competitively. He asked the young faculty to divert their focus to highly-paid sectors such as marketing and social sciences.

Earlier, Office of Research Innovations and Commercialization Director Dr Asif Ali assured participants that his office will facilitate and encourage the faculty to pitch their innovative ideas globally.
