HYDERABAD: MNA Shagufta Jumani’s brother, Sajjad Jumani, who is also an excise inspector, has allegedly shot dead a friend during an argument.

The friendly banter lapsed into a squabble during an engagement ceremony in the family of slain Shiraz Subehpoto. The incident took place in the limits of Sakhi Pir police on Wednesday.

“He was hit by two bullets with one fatal shot in the chest and another in the left arm,” Dr Baldev, the medico legal officer, told The Express Tribune.

Subehpoto’s brother, Manzoor, identified Jumani in his initial report to the police though an FIR has not been registered so far. SHO Yousuf Qureshi told The Express Tribune that the police are conducting raids to arrest Jumani.

“Subehpoto ran to his uncle Zulfiqar Raisani’s home after they fought. Jumani chased him to the house and shot him dead,” the SHO said, quoting Shabbir.

Jumani was appointed to the excise department around three years ago. Before this, he was imprisoned in Central Jail on charges, including robbery and attempted murder. He was later acquitted.

MNA Shagufta Jumani belongs to the Pakistan Peoples Party. She was elected on a special women’s seat. She is also the president of the party’s ladies wing.

Perfect. First the PPP high ups take out a criminal from the Jail, then appoint him as an Excise Inspector ! What do you expect? I am sure he will be out of the prison in a jiffy if and if he ever gets in !

So the relative of a leading PPP politician (Prez of the Woman's WIng no less!) was given an official govt job as an excise inspector even though he had attempted murder, committed robberies, and served time in jail...thank God a person with a similar background wasn't given the Presidency of the country......
