Targeted attacks: 3 political workers among 9 killed

Mohammad Riaz, 45, and Yaqoob, 25, were shot dead in Sector 10/5.

KARACHI: Around nine people, including three political party workers, were gunned down in the city on Tuesday. Mohammad Riaz, 45, and Yaqoob, 25, were shot dead in Sector 10/5, said the Surjani police. They claimed that three men on two motorcycles opened fire at Riaz and Yaqoob. The men were associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Surjani sector unit 7. In Yousuf Goth, Mohammad Nasir, 20, was killed and his friend, Salman, was injured. A worker of the Awami National Party, Fazlur Rahman, 30, was shot dead in Orangi Town by two men, said the Mominabad police. The body of a man identified as Amir Ali, 22, was found near his house in Korangi. The Shah Latif police found the body of an unidentified young girl in a gunny bag in Gulistan Society. A barber shop owner, Shafiq, was shot dead and two others were injured in a firing incident near Bakra Hotel. Mohammad Siddiq, 55, was gunned down near his house in Akbar Shah Goth. The Pak Colony police found the body of an unidentified man in the Lyari River.
