ISLAMABAD:

A 33-year-old man was found dead in his room on Tuesday. Muhammad Akmal, a resident of Bilal Town in Shehzad Town, was found lying on the floor of his room in a pool of blood by his sister, police said. “He had a big wound in his head,” the police said.

While his sister and neighbours believe that Akmal committed suicide, police are not ruling out a murder. He bled from his mouth and nose, said the investigation officer (IO). The IO said there were no apparent signs of torture on the body. Also they did not find any evidence of forced entry into the room.

However the manner in which Akmal died throws doubts on the case. “It is very difficult for anyone to kill oneself by hitting one’s head against the wall or [a hard surface],” said the IO.

The body was taken to the PIMS. The autopsy report would help police in ascertaining the circumstances surrounding his death, the IO said.

However the doctors were unable to start the post-mortem as no one came to claim the body.

Akmal was unemployed and living with his mother and sister, but they did not come to the hospital to claim the body, said the IO.
