Sunni Tehrik man shot dead in Garden

KARACHI: An activist of the Sunni Tehrik (ST) was gunned down in the limits of Garden police station on Sunday.

According to police, the victim, 22-year-old Irfan Qadri, son of Noor Ahmed, was targeted when he emerged after offering his Asr prayers at Aqsa Masjid in Ranchore Lines near Mehfooz Sheermal House. Two armed men opened indiscriminate fire on him, killing him on the spot. They took off. The police took the body Civil Hospital, Karachi.

After the news spread, ST sympathisers gathered at the hospital. Party member Moin Qadri said the victim was not only an activist but his younger brother, Imran Qadri, was their Lyari sector incharge.

Moin Qadri condemned the incident and demanded the government arrest the culprits. The victim used to work in a garments factory and was unmarried.

The killing closed shops and markets in the area and people hurried home. No case was registered by the filing of this report.
