LAHORE: Former PPP MPA Aslam Madhiyana was on Monday issued a court notice on a petition that seeks cancellation of his bail in an alleged torture case. Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued the notice on the Punjab government petition and adjourned the hearing indefinitely. Madhiyana, accused of torturing and breaking a school teacher’s legs, was granted bail on July 10 by an additional district and sessions judge. The next hearing date will be fixed by the high court registrar’s office. On August 31, Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa had refused to hear the appeal, saying he had already heard the case. The counsel for the Punjab government said, they wanted the bail to be cancelled because Madhiyana is wanted in 30 other cases.
