LAHORE:

The special judge (Central) on Monday admonished the investigation officer for not completing an investigation into an alleged plot to murder former Lahore High Court chief justice Khwaja Sharif.

He directed the investigation officer (IO) to submit the report on the next hearing on September 28. While giving the order, the judge also extended, till September 28, interim-bail of Tauqeer Shah, the former principal secretary, and Talha Burki, staff officer to the chief minister.

Shah and Burki denied any role in the matter, saying that they had been falsely accused by the Federal Investigation Agency. The agency says the men “hatched a conspiracy” and issued a fake intelligence report to create differences among the federal government, the Punjab government and the judiciary.
