Power And Water Shortages: WAPDA priority: completing projects

Completion of under-construction projects is the foremost priority of the present management of Wapda.

ISLAMABAD: Besides initiating new projects in water and hydropower sectors, completion of the under-construction projects in the shortest time is the foremost priority of the present management of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda). This was stated by WAPDA Chairman Syed Raghib Abbas Shah during his maiden address to the Wapda senior officers at Wapda House, said a press release. Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said that on-time completion of the projects is vital in view of the increasing needs of water and electricity in the country. He directed the project authorities to expedite their efforts in completing the projects, so that their benefits could be accrued to mitigate water and power shortfall. He said that Wapda should come up to the expectations of the people, as it deals with the two vital sectors of water and hydropower in the country. Dilating upon the new projects, the chairman said that work on Naulong, Nai Gaj, Ghabir and Kurram Tangi Dam projects - one each in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa  is being carried on fast track basis.
