Rain takings its toll: Three people reported dead as walls and roof collapse

SUKKUR: Three people in different villages of upper Sindh were killed on Wednesday after their houses collapsed.

Two to three feet of water has reportedly been accumulating in the Wagni village near Mirpur Mathelo, due to which many katcha houses have collapsed.

A man, Sukhio Shaikh, was crushed to death under a wall. A roof collapsed in the Haji Dost Mohammad Bhangar village near Thull, killing a woman, Ameeran. Similarly, an elderly man, Mohammad Sharif Banglani, was killed under the wall of his house in the Mohammad Raheem Banglani village. Three children, Soni Sarki in Ali Bux Sarki and seven-year-old Nazir Behrani and five-year-old Abdul Malik in Nihal Behrani village, reportedly died due to gastroenteritis.

Two brothers, 35-year-old Usman Bhatti and 40-year-old Pir Bux Bhatti, also died of gastroenteritis in Jacobabad as the area was surrounded by stagnant water and they could not receive medical treatment.  A 30-year-old man, Mashook Ali Bhatti, was bitten by a dog three days ago in Soomra Shakh village near Jacobabad and did not survive his injuries since the proper vaccination was not available.
