LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued notices to the Punjab government and the health secretary on a petition seeking contempt proceedings against the Young Doctors Association (YDA) for going ahead with the call for a strike on September 13, in violation of court orders. The respondents were told to reply by September 21. Petitioner Advocate Azhar Siddique submitted that the court had restrained the YDA from protesting but the association had violated the court’s orders and gone on a strike. By protesting, the Young Doctors Association was trying to influence the court, which is hearing the matter, the petitioner said. He requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against them for defying the court’s orders.
