ISLAMABAD:

Two drug addicts on Friday killed a prayer leader of a mosque after he saw them stealing the battery of a telecom tower.

The assailants were arrested by the Sabzi Mandi police. The suspects further led the police to a gang of Nigerian nationals selling heroin and other drugs.

Police said the prayer leader Muhammad Zahid saw Faisal alias Billa and his accomplice stealing a battery from the tower of a telecom company near Owais Karni Masjid I-10 Markaz. They stabbed Zahid in the chest killing him instantly.

The accused were trying to escape but were rounded up by the eyewitness who handed them over to the police.

During the investigations, the suspects told the police that they were going to sell the battery to purchase heroin from a gang of Nigerians. Later police carried out a raid at the hideout of the gang and arrested 15 men.
