Power supply to Mardan suspended after pylon blown up

SHABQADAR, CHARSADDA: Unidentified persons destroyed a 132 KV transmission power supply line by planting bombs at its base near the DPO office on Mardan Road in Charsadda district on Tuesday.

According to SHO Rukhan Zaib of the city police, the tower was destroyed after four bombs exploded at its base at around 4:00pm. He further said that the tower had been erected by the road side. Police had rushed to the spot and have launched a search operation for the culprits.

“It was an alternative power supply line that was providing electricity to Mardan from Tangi tehsil of Charsadda,” the SHO said.

A member of the bomb disposal squad confirmed that four bombs, two kilograms each, were planted at the base which completely destroyed two bases of the tower, while the other two were partially damaged. He added that the power supply to Mardan was suspended for several hours due to the bomb attack.

In a similar incident few days ago, unidentified people had destroyed 132 KV transmission power supply line in Samanat area of tehsil Shabqadar  in Charsadda.
