Farewell: ‘Learn, and return on time,’ scholars told

Five IUB faculty members to leave for higher education in foreign universities.

Islamia University Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mukhtar on Tuesday advised the faculty members leaving for foreign universities on scholarships to complete their degrees in time so that they could return and serve the country.


He was speaking at a farewell ceremony for five IUB faculty members, four from the University College of Engineering and Technology (UCET) and one form the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UCVAS), selected for the Higher Education Commission scholarships in Saudia Arabian, German and Chinese universities.

He congratulated the UCET and the UCVAS principal on selection of their faculty members.

He said the faculty development programme of the HEC would go a long way in promotion of quality education in the country.

Of the faculty members leaving for foreign universities this year, three are leaving for Saudi Arabia to pursue higher education in engineering. Engineer Asjad Amin and Engineer Muhammad Ali Quraishi will commence engineering studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral Science, Dammam; and Engineer Abdul Aziz will join King Saud University, Riyadh, for studying micro-wave engineering.

The two others leaving for higher education this year are: Engineer Muhammad Bakhash Alvi and Fatima Ismael. Alvi will join the computer science department at Technical University, Munich, Germany and Ismael, a faculty member at the IUB College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, will join Animal Sciences Department of Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China.

UCET principal Jan Muhammad Kario and UCVAS principal Abdul Samad and Director Research Asghar Hashmi were also present at the ceremony.
