Body of a girl found; boy dies of rabies

The body of a minor girl who went missing three days back, was recovered while a boy died after being bitten by a dog in separate incidents on Sunday, sources said.

Miskeem, the paternal uncle of Aisha Bibi, 7, of Mohalla Afzalabad told the police that on Saturday, Bibi had gone to buy sweets from a nearby shop but did not return. On Sunday, the locals spotted her body near Bani Wala graveyard and informed the police. According to a medico legal officer at Women and Children Hospital, the girl’s throat was slit and the body was one day old.

Meanwhile, a boy died at the same hospital after being bitten by a rabid dog in Sikandar Pur village. City police quoted Misry Khanam, as saying that her son Azam, 11, was passing through the street on August 23, when the pet dog of Mumtaz of the same locality bit him. She took her injured son to the hospital and got him first aid. However, after a week, his condition deteriorated and she again took him to the hospital. He remained admitted for over eight days and died on Sunday morning.
