SHO involved in Sialkot lynching arrested

Joint Investigation Team Head Mushtaq Sukhera said that more arrests will be made after the completion of the inquiry.

The prime accused in the lynching of two brothers in Sialkot, SHO Rana Ilyas was arrested in Gujranwala on Friday.

The suspect had initially managed to evade custody having fled from the office of the DSP Sialkot. Ilyas was brought to the office so that he could be produced before a court for a judicial remand.

Sialkot murders: SC to receive inquiry report on Monday

Judicial Commission Chairman Justice (retd) Kazim Malik said that the inquiry report on the lynching of two brothers in Sialkot will be presented in the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.

Speaking to Express News, Joint Investigation Team Head Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera said that arrests will be made after the completion of the inquiry. He said that evidence has been collected in during the inquiry process and a strict action will be taken against those involved in the incident.

Sukhera said that 33 people including five policemen have been arrested in this connection so far while Silakot DPO Waqar Ahmed Chouhan is under house arrest.

He was detained by the Sialkot police on charges of negligence and for failing to stop the merciless lynching of the teenage brothers on August 15.

Police institution needs reforms because not only in this incident but police is involved in many cries and there is no check and balance in this institution. We have been fighting tooth and nail for our image in the world, trying to separate ourselves from the extreme fringe. These murderers were not Taliban or Al-Qaeda or any other terrorist organization. These were regular citizens and policemen! You have to set the record straight for the whole world and for your own conscience by ordering a death sentence to all the participants - those arrested now to be executed first and then launch a massive manhunt for all bystanders to be publicly flogged if not hanged!!!! These people's names should be released to the public so that anyone in future coming into contact with them knows that they stood there watching two human beings being murdered and did nothing. You have to do justice!!!! If you don't, you will prove that you were not worth the blood and sweat of Pakistani people that they shed for restoring you to your office. And it will be a greater shame for you today and forever than anything else you've done wrong in your life. It's all about power and money, if you have that then you can commit the most heinous crime without any fear. The foundation of Pakistan was based on an Islamic country but, is there anything Islamic there? Under Sharia and Islamic laws the killers and police would face same punishment as the young victims did. It's painful to read that they are still talking about inquiry. Are you kidding? What about all the videos? What more proofs are needed after the world saw severe brutality!

arshad | 13 years ago | Reply we blame the taliban for thier ruthlesness, but these were not taliban even worse , all the culprits should be given treatment exactly as that given to the brothers so that everyone learn a lesson, and i am hopeful at least some justice will prevail, thanx to the media this was brought to light otherwise many such incidents go unnoticed

Thank God in this case there is no room left for the usual Police manipulatio of facts. The judiciary has the most robust evidence as no longer do we have gutless witnesses who can be terrorized. The whole country.....in fact the whole world now bears witness to this hienous crime. Have no hopes from a Police friendly Punjab Govt but am sure the CJ will pass the maximum possible sentence against these barbarians that have also maligned an already poor image of Pakistan. Personally i believe that whatever is the result of the inquiry, no one has the right to take law in his own hand. and police is liable to take necessary action to save anyone who is being killed infront of them. I have full confidence on my judiciary and i hope and wait for the decision.

Remember that the police took those poor kids out of the protection of Rescue 1122 and told the mob to kill them and police will show it as an encounter. Now they are putting a blame on Rescue guys that they should have admitted them to hospital instead of keeping them there. I say some totrure is required to be done on these shame officers before they get hanged there. There families and whole nation should watch it so no one dare think of this brutal act in future.

Syed A. Mateen | 13 years ago | Reply It was the basic responsibility of SHO to save the lives of the two brothers whereas he was present on the scene and an eye witness. The two brothers were brutally killed and SHO could not stop the mob. Though it was the duty of the SHO to call the senior police officers for police aid but neighter the SHO stopped the mob through police force working under him, nor called for more police aid. The SHO and his police party who were at the crime scene are fully responsible in murdering the two brothers and hence deserve to be punished severely. The punishment should not be less than equal to a capital punishment awarded to the murderers under section 302 of the law.

Whether this practice of arrest after inquiry exist in the country, sorry no where. You commit the crime or anyone lodged complaint against some, the "badmash" police continue arrest there is no inquiry. you have to suffer a lot to prove itself innocent, this is a police state country, terrible. This is all to linger on or to damage the case and to save the police men which are the real and real culprits.

Buttar Village cricketers planned to teach the City Boys a lesson. They were all prepared waiting for them on that particular day. They nabbed the unaware boys and beat them hard. They injured the younger boy seriously. Probably, one of the assailant got shot by his friends accidently. Boys were in custody of Rescue 1122. Until now, no body call the Boys robbers.Buttar Village Cricketers knew that had killed one of their own man and also seriously injured Muneeb who is not gonna make it. They hurried made another plan. A corroupt Incharge of Rescue 1122 was bribed who handed the boys over to the killers. There was no robbery/ dacoity. They wanted to kill the innocent boys to save their own necks. Of course, that was only possible with collaboration of Rescue 1122.

hakeem | 13 years ago | Reply @Amanat Ali, sir, the procedure is being observed correctly all accussed are already on Exit Control List and when every one called is ready to face inquiry no power is vested in inquiry officer to order arrest it will be jurisdiction of court to order arrest if so required. And please be diffrent from mob that did justice in haste. Please have faith in rule of law

Untill it got complete culprits shall escape form the country and the poor victims wait for justice. Ghandi Police.
