LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) administration on Wednesday stopped an additional district and sessions judge from trying criminal cases.

The decision was taken after a division bench cast doubts about his integrity.

LHC acting registrar Abdul Sattar has issued the notification stating that an LHC division bench had observed that the former Kasur additional district and sessions judge, Rao Abdul Jabbar Khan, now posted in Gujaranwala, was either incapable of adjudicating sessions cases or his integrity was compromised.

The observation was made while disposing of a criminal appeal. The judge had convicted eight people in a case registered by Mustafabad police station based exclusively on the opinion of the investigation officer despite the fact that the legal heirs of the deceased had made a statement in favour of the accused during the trial and material witnesses had not supported the prosecution case.
