‘Honour’ crime: Newly-weds killed by bride’s father

Police said suspect produced the axe with which he had killed his daughter and her husband.

MULTAN: A newly wed couple was killed on Monday allegedly by the woman’s father in Naginabad. Mumtazabad Station House Officer Mehr Afzal said that Aslam Khokhar’s 18-year-old daughter had eloped with Sajid Arain 10 days ago. They said the two had gone to Lahore and married. On Sunday, they said, Khokhar found his daughter and persuaded her to return home to be wed to Arain in a ceremony. Police said when she arrived with Arain on Monday, they both were butchered. Khokhar later went to the police station and confessed to the crime. Police said he also produced the axe with which he had killed his daughter and her husband. The bodies have been sent to Nishtar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
