BAHAWALPUR:

A man was thrown into the Koti Canal in the Nawankot area near Liaqatpur checkpost on Sunday night.

Hafiz Muhammad Nazuk, son of the deceased, said five men, including Mian Papoo, Mian Jagoo, Mian Adnan and Jaam Zahid, had kidnapped his father, Abdur Rehman Baloch, from their home

“They took him to the nearby canal and threw him in front of my eyes,” he said. He said he had called for help and residents of the area had finally pulled the body out.

“The suspects had fled by the time the police arrived,” he said.

He complained that the police were not registering an FIR.

Pata Larra Investigation Officer Safdar Shaheen told The Express Tribune that Nazuk’s application had been received. He said investigation had started. He said the body had been sent to Liaqatput THQ hospital for an autopsy.

A Liaqatpur THQ hospital doctor said samples from internal organs had been sent to a lab in Multan. He said the final report would be available in two to three days.
