FAISALABAD:

D-Type Colony police have arrested a robbery suspect who, they say, shot and killed an accomplice during a robbery on Friday.

The suspect, Abdur Razzaq, was caught by some passers-by after a bullet he allegedly fired aiming at a motorcyclist Muhammad Ilyas hit his accomplice, Muhammad Kashif. Police said Kashif died on the spot. Razzaq was caught by passers-by and handed over to the police after a beating.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Sadiq Dogar said the deceased was wanted for robberies and possession of illegal weapon in several police stations. He said the police were still interrogating Razzaq.

In the FIR, Muhammad Ilyas, a resident of Gojra, stated that he was stopped by Razzaq and Kashif near Korianwala Bridge and told to surrender his motorcycle. It said Ilyas resisted and was in the middle of a fist fight with Kashif when Razzaq fired a bullet at him.

The bullet hit Kashif instead, killing him on the spot.
