KARACHI: A joint unit incharge of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) and a teenage boy of Pakhtun ethnicity were gunned down in separate incidents of target killing in the city on Wednesday.

The ST activist was identified as Qasim Qadri, 28, and he was shot dead in Khudadad colony, said Jamshed Quarter Police Station additional SHO Yousuf Jamil.

“He was on his motorcycle when suspects also on motorcycles shot him dead,” the SHO said. “It looks like target killing but we cannot say anything for sure yet,” Jamil explained.

As soon as the news of his death spread, enraged ST activists reached the hospital to protest. Tension prevailed in Jacob Lines, Lines area and Khudadad Colony. A minibus was also set ablaze by the mob. Meanwhile, police registered an FIR against Rahim and Kashmira Dari on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Abdul Wahab.
