KARACHI: A bomb hoax forced an evacuation of the Sindh Assembly building on Thursday morning after security agencies were tipped off about a possible sabotage attempt, officials said. “The assembly is not in session and only staff members were in office when the bomb disposal squad swept the hall and rooms,” said the secretary of the assembly, Hadi Buksh. No explosives were found. “Someone from the secret services called in the morning to inform me of a plot. I immediately authorised the police to check the building,” he said. Security is already tight in and around the building with the police checking the identity of those entering the premises. Key members of the provincial assembly also have chambers in the building. “We have asked parliamentarians to cooperate with us. Every car entering the assembly is being thoroughly checked.”
