Kate Hudson in The Reluctant Fundamentalist

The Venice Film Festival commenced with 9/11 drama, The Reluctant Fundamentalist where Hollywood actor Kate Hudson walked the red carpet with her co-stars. Directed by Mira Nair and based on the 2007 novel written by Mohsin Hamid, the premiere was proudly backed by Hollywood stars.

What we love

The Indian director has starred international names in her movie such as the gorgeous Kate Hudson. Based on a book originally written by a Pakistani author, and encompassing a cast so diverse — Indian, Pakistani and American actors — the movie is attracting audiences from all around the globe.

Unfortunately

Hudson plays the role of Erica — object of Pakistani hero, Changez’s (played by British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed) affection — a photographer mourning her ex-lover’s death. Critics feel the ebullient and very chirpy Hudson doesn’t fit the role and sadly, seems rather “miscast” as the devastated heroine.
