The British Council on Tuesday hosted a focus group forum under its ‘English for Impact’ programme. The event was titled ‘Expanding English Language Teaching (ELT) Horizons’ and comprised government and private school teacher. The teachers contributed with their extensive knowledge on the subject and shared their views about the challenges and issues facing English language teaching and learning in Pakistan. The forum also discussed ideas for sustainable solutions. Speaking at the occasion, Head of Programmes (English) Murad Khan said, “Policymakers and education planners should primarily focus on developing the linguistic and pedagogical expertise of English teachers through a robust in-service training system.”
