City police claimed on Monday to have arrested 12 men on charges of possessing illegal weapons and drug peddling.


The police said they had seized narcotics and illegal weapons from the possession of these suspects. The suspects were identified as Fayyaz Ahmed, Ghulam Shabbir, Haidar, Irshad, Imran, Zahid, Asim, Mujahid, Rafiq, Shakeel, Khalid and Nazir. They were arrested in raids at arrested from Shah Rukne Alam, New Multan, Seetal Mari, Cantonment, Haram Gate and City Jalalpur police stations. Police said two kilos of hashish and six pistols were seized in these raids. Two men were arrested by Kohna police in Khanewal on similar charges on Monday. Police said a patrolling team arrested Sher Muhammad, a resident of Jaswant Nagar, for possessing a 0.3 bore pistol without a licence. In another incident, a police team arrested Muhammad Adnan, a resident of Block No 2, and recovered 100 grams of hashish from his possession.
