Rescue workers failed to recover the bodies in a three-long operation. The search will resume in the morning.
Ali Rafique, 15, and Sadaqat Ali, 13, were swimming in the River Ravi near the Old Ravi Bridge when they went missing. Rescue 1122 were called at 3:15pm and search for the bodies till 6:30pm was then stopped for lack of light.
Muhammad Siddique, an uncle of Sadaqat Ali, told The Express Tribune that his nephew, a grade 9 student, had told the family he was going to play cricket.
He said it was a shame that the search was stopped because “it was too dark.” Imran Sadiq, the rescue and safety officer, said the operation will be resumed at around 6:30am on Monday. He said the operation had been stopped after it became too dark.

The search for bodies is stopped even in the technologically advanced world when it's too dark or the team is exhausted, what wrong with that? It's sad that the teens were drowned and the family can't get to see them until later. But brain can't survive without oxygen after 6min to at the most half-hour for very young children. The resources of a rescue team depends upon the funds they had from taxes the department collected last year. We are so dependent on aid that we are totally parralized when it's come to situations like this. Even in the rich western countries whole community or affluent people donate fire equipment and lake-bottom searching equipment that is installed on the boat and show the bottom even in the dark. This is where a voters sense descision making comes into play when s/he don't look at just the face but find the true educaion, background and experience of local leader who will decide about the fate of their children or loved one in such emergencies.
