Four injured in Quetta railway track blast

QUETTA: Four people, including a Frontier Corps (FC) official, were wounded in a bomb blast in Quetta Saturday night while attacks on FC check posts were also reported in different area of Balochistan.

According to police officials, explosives were planted along the railway track in Chaman Pattak area of Quetta where FC personnel had also established a check post.

“Explosives detonated with a huge blast, damaging the track, injuring an FC official and three passers-by while windows of a nearby building also shattered due to the blast,” police officials added.

Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area after the blast. The injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that firing was also heard after the blast that created fear and panic amongst the people in the locality.

Militants attack FC check posts

Militants also attacked a FC camp with rockets in Mand Soro area of Kech district.

Sources said that militants fired several rockets, targeting the FC camp, which exploded in desolated areas, causing no casualties and damage to property.

FC personnel fired at the militants in retaliation; however the latter managed to escape.

In another incident, militants fired rockets at a FC check post in Mir Hassan, Naseerabad district. Fortunately, the rocket missed its target.

Following the incident, FC personnel initiated a search operation in the area for the militants.
