General Hospital: Gen (r) Ziauddin elected new board chairman

The chairman was unanimously elected by the new board.

Lt General (retired) Khawaja Ziauddin has been elected chairman of the Board of Management of the Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital (LGH).


The chairman was unanimously elected by the new board, which held its first meeting at the LGH committee room on Saturday.

Gen (r) Ziauddin assured the board that the school and hospital would get the resources necessary to complete ongoing projects as soon as possible. He said that the LGH offered top quality medical treatment. He said the PGMI played a key role in medical education. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken personal interest in upgrading the hospital and school.

PGMI Principal Prof Anjam Habib Vohra had earlier briefed the meeting on ongoing projects, which include the newly set up Dr Ameeruddin Medical College. He said that the new college will start classes this year and produce skilled graduates in five years. He said that funds were needed at the earliest for the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences and phases one and three of the Master Plan.
