Law and order: Villagers protest robbery killing near police post
Protestors said Habib Ahmad, 40, a resident of Chak 28-GB, was shot by robbers near a police post.

Dozens of residents of Chak 28-GB on Friday staged a demonstration at Khannuana Bypass Chowk to protest the killing of a man in a robbery. They said Habib Ahmad, 40, a resident of Chak 28-GB, was shot by robbers near a police post.
They condemned Saddar police for its failure to act against criminal gangs in the area. They said robberies in broad daylight had now become a routine. The protesters parked tractor-trolleys on the road and burnt old tyres to block traffic for over four hours. Saddar and Nishatabad police teams, led by DSP (Saddar) Farooq Hundal and DSP (Nishatabad) Malik Khalid, respectively, assured the protesters of prompt action against Ahmed’s killers and persuaded the protesters to disperse after two rounds of talks. The FIR registered by Saddar police stated that Ahmad was killed by two robbers near Khannuana police post in Chak 239-RB. It said the robbers took away Rs5,000 and a gold chain from Ahmed before they shot him for refusing to give up his motorcycle as well. Some passers by later took him to a hospital where he died.
