Consensus: Survey on proposed district underway

The proposed district would comprise 29 union councils as upper and lower Tanawal, spread over three districts.

ABBOTABAD: To form a consensus on the creation of a Tanawal District in Hazara Division, the provincial government has launched a survey in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur districts, sources said on Friday. The district revenue officers of the districts have recorded statements of concerned MPAs, former nazims, naib nazims, councilors and revenue officers of all union council on the proposed district. While addressing a public gathering last month, MPA Habibur Rehman and K-P Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti announced the creation of Tanawal District. They promised to hold consensus for which, according to official sources, the provincial revenue department wrote letters to all three district revenue officers, asking them to complete the survey within two weeks, seeking the consent of former and sitting elected representatives of union councils. According to the plan, the proposed district would comprise 29 union councils as upper and lower Tanawal, spread over three districts.
