Delegation visits India: Parliamentary dialogue can create peace

India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said that it was fortunate India and Pakistan are neighbours.

NEW DELHI: India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said on Thursday that it was fortunate India and Pakistan are neighbours, which can only work in favour of each other.

Welcoming the Pakistani delegation to the 4th round of the India-Pakistan Parliamentarians Dialogue, the speaker said that the 42 political parties sitting in the Indian Parliament represents a national consensus that Indians want a stronger and peaceful relationship with the people of Pakistan.

Meira appreciated the Pakistan Insittute of Legislative Development and Transparency’s initiative to bring MPs of both countries to the dialogue table, saying that Parliamentary engagement is committing the South Asian rivals to resolve all issues of mutual concern and interest in a peaceful manner.
