Eid emergencies: 162 given first aid in 165 cases in Bahawalpur

As many as 165 cases were reported to Rescue 1122 in Bahawalpur during Eid holidays, Divisional Officer (Emergency) Malik Asiif Rahim Channar told a press conference on Thursday.


He said 85 of these were road accidents, 11 quarrels and 57 other emergencies.

The DO said 162 people were given first aid in these cases. He said 24 were treated on the spot and 138 taken to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

He said rescue work was underway to recover bodies of all six people who had drowned near Head Panjnad on Wednesday. So far, he said, four bodies had been recovered.

There were 12 people on the boat that drowned on Wednesday. Of these, six were rescued alive in an operation on the same day.

The DO (emergency) said efforts were underway to find the other two bodies as well.

Those recovered on Thursday were identified as Mujahid Ali, 45; Faisal Ahmed, 15; Muzammil Ahmed, 18, and Muhammad Safdar.

He said the three motorcycles on the boat were also fished out.

The boat was carrying people from one bank of the river to the other bank.
