FAISALABAD: A mother of three has been stabbed and killed by her cousin “to protect the family’s honour” at a village here. Officials at Jaranwala police station told The Express Tribune that Khalida, a resident of Chak 624-GB, had been killed by her paternal cousin Aslam.

They said that Khalida was married to a man named Faiz Muhammad and they had three daughters. They said that Aslam had suspected that Khalida was having an affair with another man in the locality. He had repeatedly confronted her and told her to stop the affair, as her actions had become a source of shame for her family before the rest of the village.

The police officials said that Aslam had confronted her again and the two had exchanged angry words. They said that an infuriated Aslam then attacked Khalida, stabbing her repeatedly.

The police sent the body for a post-mortem. Aslam has not yet been arrested.
