Two IED explosions in Kurram, Orakzai

Security agency official says IED targeted convoy in Khwai Darra area of Upper Orakzai as it was en route to Kurram.

Two separate incidents of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks in Kurram and Orakzai agencies killed one security operative and injured another 16 on Wednesday.


A security agency official said that an IED device targeted a convoy in the Khwai Darra area of Upper Orakzai as it was en route to Kurram. The dead and injured were shifted to Military Hospital, Parachinar.

Afterwards, security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding mountains. In a separate incident of IED explosion in Kurram, two civilians identified as Said Kamal and Muhammad Zaman were injured in the Bagzai area of Shesho.

Meanwhile, the security forces mounted another operation in the Mamozai area of Orakzai after an earlier militant attack killed 2 security personnel and injured another 15.

A security official said that so far 30 militants had been killed and several injured adding that a stockpile of rocket launchers and heavy weaponry had also been recovered from the area.
